Fusion Bionic is a DeepTech company based in Dresden. We develop laser-based machines and modules for industrial surface functionalization. Using our DLIP technology, we precisely apply micro- and nanostructures to surfaces—for applications in glass, photovoltaics, semiconductors, medical technology, and industry.
We are looking for someone to support our development team in the area of Surface functionalization, laser process development, and application-oriented technology development. Someone who doesn't just work through technical issues, but understands them, explores them through experimentation, and translates them into robust processes.
Your tasks
You will develop and optimize laser-based processes for the micro- and nanostructuring of surfaces—from initial feasibility tests to application-oriented process development.
You will plan, oversee, and evaluate test series; analyze structured surfaces; and use the results to derive specific process parameters, technical recommendations, and next steps in development.
You will collaborate on customer and research projects and translate requirements from applications such as anti-soiling, anti-glare, wetting, adhesion, friction, optics, and thermal management into technical test concepts.
You will document results in a clear and transparent manner, prepare technical reports, and present findings both internally and to clients and project partners.
You'll also work closely with the laser/optics development, mechanical engineering, software, measurement technology, research, and business development teams—especially when an idea needs to be turned into a reproducible industrial process.
You bring along
You have a college degree in the field of Physics, Materials Science, Surface Engineering, Laser Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Microtechnology, Photonics or a comparable technical or scientific field of study.
You have experience in the experimental development of technical processes—ideally in the fields of laser processing, surface functionalization, microstructuring, materials processing, or applied research.
You can plan experiments in a structured way, critically evaluate results, and clearly document technical relationships.
You have a good understanding of surfaces, materials, process parameters, and their impact on functionality and quality.
You work analytically, meticulously, and with a focus on solutions—and you’re eager to dive deep into new applications and materials.
Technical documentation and communication in English are no problem for you.
The following would also be nice:
Experience with laser-based material processing, DLIP, ultrashort-pulse lasers, or optical systems.
Knowledge of surface analysis, such as microscopy, profilometry, contact angle measurement, friction and adhesion testing, optical characterization, or SEM.
Experience with statistical design of experiments (DoE), data analysis, or Python/MATLAB/Origin.
Knowledge of industrial process development, scaling, quality assurance, or machine integration.
Experience in client projects, research projects, or application-oriented development.
What to expect
You won't be doing routine tasks or working in an ivory tower. You'll be working on user interface features that will later need to be integrated into industrial processes, machines, and customer applications.
